I found this “How Not To Run Your First 5k or 10k” instruction very funny. The author used comment boxes to make this instruction more humorous and enjoyable. Running instruction is usually writing heavy, so I will try to add more humor to my instruction.

Great Running Blog/Inspiration
I love Helen Lavin’s running blog, “Live Life. Be Passionate“. I may be a bit biased because I know her in person and know how great of a runner she is. She is also very personable and humble about her accomplishments. ( Represented Ireland at the 2012 IAU 100k World Championship and a winner of numerous 100k and 100mile races in the USA ).
I really liked how she used quotes to describe why she runs, so I would like to incorporate few inspirational quotes on my instruction.
How to Run A Great Marathon
Making this instruction was challenging because I had to gather my friend’s past race photos and my past race photos to fit into my guideline, so some of the photos are less than ideal. I am going to take few new photos and update some photos this week.
World Famous Landmarks Built with Toothpicks
These are some intricate and beautiful work by Stan Munro at the Maker Faire this weekend. He must be incredibly patient and detail oriented artist! Here’s the short article on his artwork.
Wall Art using toilet paper cores
I saw this beautiful wall art on design sponge and wanted to share the post. The material is very affordable and you can’t tell that it is made of toilet paper cores at a glance. The instruction shows all the materials needed to make this object and used many photos to show the steps which is very helpful.
Drunken Drawing Robot Instruction
How to make a robot create some drawings for you!! I like the idea of a physical robot creating a drawing and watching the process which you can see in the video below. The step-by-step instruction with photos is always very helpful.
Munny Speakers
I am a huge dunny and smorkin’ bunny fan and I found this tutorial on how to incorporate a speaker into the munny which is a lot of fun.
I found this instruction useful because
_Good quality photos showing all the steps
_Very fun object
_Writing is minimal and to the point
I really want to make this during the winter break! ( or when I am less busy…;)
Here’s another video on the same topic.
cardboard clock
There is something really nice about analog clocks, so I decided to incorporate LED lights to show “seconds” on this clock. I used this to website to set up my LED lights and I used a button to control the lights.

Here’s a quick video of the clock and the process.
And here’s a fun clock that I found on Make website!
Project 1: seahorse cardboard chandelier by emi
I used this website to make this chandelier. I didn’t follow the entire direction and I chose not to paint the cardboard because I prefer to keep the natural material.
Here’s a quick slideshow of the making process.
emi yasaka
Hi! I am emi.
This is a picture of me running the National Snowshoe Championship race. (yes, there is such a thing!) I wasn’t joking about my snowshoeing. Modern snowshoes don’t look like tennis rackets and they are made of lightweight aluminum frames. I am one of those crazy people who runs marathons for fun. I truly enjoy running on trails and to be in nature.
I am originally from Japan although I only lived there for 5 years. I moved a lot as a child and grew up in several different countries. I have an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. I spent my last 10 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I designed in-store experience and environments for Best Buy. I also worked as a freelance graphic and product designer for different companies and organizations over the years. Below is one of the projects I worked on with couples of my friends. The bear is called RB and I modeled the 3D character for the production of this toy.
My older work is on coroflot and I am hoping to get my website up and running this year. You can also find me on Facebook and Tumblr <-I haven’t updated this in many months. You can also find me running on bike paths and streets.
