Marble Racers!

Hello everyone!

This is my first tear down attempt. I found this cool transparent race car that lights up when you shake it and I was excited to see how it worked. When I cracked it open, there were only three main components.

-3 LED lights

-3 batteries(LRN30) (I couldn’t find it online but I found this instead: http://www.LRN.com )

-1 circuit board with a timer hidden under a epoxy blob

The interesting fact about the car was that there was not even a single screw used. It was meant to be for under 3 year-olds and for safety reasons it wasn’t possible to open the toy without breaking it with a hammer. The pieces seem to be made through injection molding.

The batteries were tied together using a thin plastic strip and I couldn’t figure out how after a few seconds the lights stop blinking. (Becky found the hidden resin blob so now I know there’s a timer that stops the LEDs from blinking)

I’m still gunna do the jawbone, STAY TUNED!!!!

  1. I upgraded the storage, could you try again to post to the blog? Please make a web-only set of images that are no larger than 1000px in their largest dimension before uploading. Thanks!
