Rida’s Halloween Costume Ideas & NeonPixel

I’ve never joined a Halloween parade before (and still debating) but I was excited to brainstorm costume ideas 🙂

Idea 1: Medusa Gorgon’s arrows from Soul Eater

Making: wearable, bendable arrows that light up at the tip (throw me ideas about how to arrange the lighting to make this thing GLOW!)

Idea 2: Mr. Qi Giant Crop Fruit from Stardew Valley

Making: a glowing Mr.Qi giant crop handheld light -> still thinking about making it a plush toy or 3D printing

Idea 3: Tinky Winky’s headwear antenna from Teletubbies

Making: a lowing headwear antenna (just thought it’s silly)

  1. Hey Rida, nice brainstorm! If you’re feeling apprehensive about the parade and want to talk through any “what if”s with me, I’m happy to chat about it. For the arrow idea, to make them glow a lot, i’d recommend lining the long edge with led strip, so the leds point inward to the shape, giving maximum area to bounce around inside the shape and therefore max diffusion (I’ll send a sketch on Slack). You could use colored tights/stockings as diffusion over your wire frame.

Your other ideas are fine, too! Whichever one you pick, start thinking about how you want your LEDs to animate, so we can have a goal to shoot for with our animation programming.
