Grumpers/Grumps

Grumps is a mood indicator. It is meant to convey a mood to your loved ones without needing to speak. Whether you don’t feel like speaking or you’re busy at work/school, Grumps allows you to ask for comfort without having to overextend yourself. The object will glow when activated which signifies to the room that you aren’t in a good mood. Grumps will be a weighted plush which will allow it to sit on your desk or provide comfort in your arms.

Bonus: It will have a small pocket that can store notes/letters of affirmation.

Update: Grumpers is going to be a set of two tear droplets.

Target Users: nonverbal/neurodivergent people | people who work long hours | people that live with their partners.

2. Led -> different colors to signify different moods
3. Some ribbon/chain that allows multiple grumps to be attached to each other + other things

  1. Nice brainstorm, Lauren! I think your idea is super practical for your current group working situation at school. Are you leaning towards one form or another for the grump you make first? I think the traffic cone is pretty fun and would lend itself well to the assignment. We’re only doing on/off for this project, not color-changing, but you can still incorporate the color changing feature in your story if you want, as a future addition. For weights, you can use dried beans if you don’t want to buy the purpose-built plastic pellets that are inside beanie babies.

  2. Such a cute idea Lauren! I love the name – and particularly the phrasing of not needing to ‘overextend’ yourself. The tear set is such a great idea. I think it would be cool to differentiate each drop – maybe one for grumpy, happy etc and each color indicates a certain mood. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/al3kQZ7XLQg This is a super cute mood light I found online! For photographs, it would be cool to photograph grumps with people actually depicting those moods perhaps in different settings?
