Carol’s Plush Night Light Proposal

My target users are people walking on the road at night, especially children. Walking on the road at night is very dangerous and easily be hit by a car. Therefore, I suggest wearing the night light I designed, which will make the wearer easily visible to drivers.

Process:

Sketches: wings, bracelets, headdresses.

1. Draw sketches: wings, bracelets, headdresses

2. Cut the pattern, calculate the seam allowance

3. Cut out the desired shape on the fabric

4. Sew

5. Turn inner layer outward and stuff with cotton

6. Close and final result

  1. Hey, Carol! I really like all of your idea but especially the wings which you made it for the prototype makes more sense for the people who go out at night a lot, and it’s super cute. I thought it is a form of butterfly at first, but after reading your description,

    1. I have no idea what just happened, but I will continue my comment here haha. Why don’t you add a little more fabrication on the wings or make it with a day glow or neon kind of fabric to make it more visible?

  2. Hi Carol! I think your idea is interesting and also useful for kids commuting in the dark. Maybe you can make the plush toy a bit larger so it indicates that it is worn and not just held. The work reminds me of fairies, and more mystical night time creatures in a way. Have you considered what your final fabric will be and if you will have any additional embellishment or pattern stitches? I am curious to see how your lights enhance this idea, and I think it will be successful and definitely feasible.

For your final photograph, you could show maybe someone wearing your plush night light and walking at night (maybe with a streetlight so its not completely dark). I think this would show the utility and qualities of your plush night light.
