I’m working on creating a small nightlight shaped like a game controller. I personally love playing games, but when I play at home, I usually use a projector, so I need to turn off all the lights. That’s why I want to make a small nightlight that gives off a soft glow. Just imagine, while holding a game controller, there’s a glowing game controller toy next to me. That would make my day.

Here’s the translation of the materials list:
- Felt fabric
- Cotton fabric
- Resistors
- Small light bulbs
- Batteries
- Needle and thread

Ok, Eva! This is a totally acceptable concept, could you elaborate on where/how the light is, and draw a circuit diagram showing how many LEDs? Here’s the example from week 2 canvas/homework: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/fwj573eA2ow
Are you considering having any of the buttons on the controller light up too? you could play with opaque/translucent materials to allow light to shine in multiple spots, if you want!
Hi Eva! This is such a cool concept and it looks very detail oriented. I have already witnessed your progress on this project and am so excited to see the end result. I am so happy you are making this plush light for yourself, you have included so many amazing features I would love to chat to you after your finished to understand your process!!!
Hi Eva – I really like your game controller idea and I wish part of me can continue playing games when I go to bed. Are you going to only make the two side handle areas plushy and the central part hard to create a contrast? And adding on to Becky’s comment, I think it’s going to be a great idea to glow up the buttons and maybe add a soft glow from the central part of the toy (with two sets of the circuits). Curious to see what materials you picked for the console!
Rida, thanks for the suggestion, I did consider putting the lights on the side, or front. I’m going to do this because I looked closely at my switch grip and realized that it only has the four bright blocks on the black part that are illuminated in real life. I’m still considering whether to try to stick as close to the real life grip as possible or take your advice.
Very cool! I think it would be cooler if I used canvas! The plush version may not be able to see the details, the short velvet version will be cute!! This is also cool if it can be made big!! Looking forward to it!
