Hi I’m Rida :)

I’m originally from Chongqing, China and completed my B.A. in Classical Studies at University of Chicago in 2023. My education experience mostly concentrated in the field of humanities (literature, cultural studies, cinema studies, history, philosophy, etc.) but I also gained exposure to game studies & design, disability and design, and urban planning & architecture through classes – all of which are topics I look forward to exploring further.

I volunteered for non-profits as a User Researcher before PoD and other work experience includes strategy work at tech companies and management consulting. Equipped with a business scope, I decided to pivot to product design in order to gain more comprehensive knowledge on the product development cycle, to be more involved in the product creation processes, and build impact.

Favorite food

It’s so hard to choose honestly! I love hotpot, but I also had a blast trying all the American, Italian, Fusion, and French spots in Chicago and Boston. Definitely excited to explore a bunch of new places in NYC!

Hi! My name is Sofia.

Sofia Grytsenko, IG @astralsofia

Hello Everyone! I am Sofia Grytsenko and I am a UX/UI designer who loves psychology and design.

I was born and raised in New Jersey, where I attended the Bergen County Academies for Computer Science. From this experience, I learned that I wanted to be more focused on how people interact with technology rather than create technology itself.

I ended up going to Rochester Institute of Technology for Human Centered Computing; there I learned how to design and code full applications for mobile and web. I now work as a Quality Assurance Analyst for Continual Care Solutions to ensure a good product for non-profits. I am excited to transition more into creative work.

I love cross-stitching, day dreaming about potential products, but also hiking and seeing live music. I also spend a lot of time thrifting and collecting cloths for a flea market business that I run with my friend. My favorite foods include Birria Tacos and Miso Ramen! I really try to be apart of my community and see new things.

I am the most excited for the opportunity to create my own products in this course, and to use what I learn to create cloths and products for my brand. I worry about my level of skill, but I will work hard to improve quickly.

P.S This is my cat, Lucy. She has been with me since 3rd grade. Megumi is my guinea pig who I have had since 2021.

P.P.S I love going out to bars, concerts, mountains, beach, etc. If you want to go do something I will always say “Yes”!

Hi, I’m Gaoming :)

I’m from Fujian, China. Before studying at PoD, I was majored in Graphic Design at Binghamton University. During my 4-year undergraduate, I was a layout designer for the campus newspaper organization-Pipe Dream, I enjoyed arranging photos and texts within the newspaper page, and catching up the deadlines every midnight.

I’m also really into theater productions, especially musicals. I enjoyed seeing plays so much that I decided to obtain a minor in theater technical productions. While working at the woodshop building varies sceneries, I was able to learn how to cut woods, paint scenes, and cooperate with the team to construct the stage.

Upon my experiences, I’ve never get to work with electronics before, so I’m very excited and worried about the upcoming Arduino project at the same time. And I believe whatever the outcomes, it would become a great experience for me.
